Feel free to ask any questions, and when you decide to make an appointment we have the option of both a male or female Chiropractors. It is very important to us that you feel at ease when you come and see us.
Your first visit to your Chiropractor will involve a complete health history and physical examination. Imaging studies such as x-rays or MRI may be requested via your GP or Albyn hospital only if necessary, to evaluate the underlying cause of a condition depending on each individual situation.
A course of care, unique to your needs, will involve appropriate gentle adjustment techniques, exercise, bodywork and general health advice based on Chiropractic principles. Your treatment plan will be aimed at fulfilling your personal goals and needs.
No, chiropractic is the third largest healthcare profession in the world and is a primary healthcare profession, which means we are the first line of contact for the public and patients do not need a referral to see us. Chiropractors are highly trained in diagnoses as well as taking x-rays, diagnosing from x-rays and being able to refer patients to other healthcare professionals if necessary.
For thousands of patients everyday chiropractic changes their life for the better and so on your first visit your chiropractor will start by taking a comprehensive history including everything from your lifestyle habits to your past medical history to fully understand the cause of your complaint. Your chiropractor will then follow this with a very thorough physical examination to fully determine the cause of your problem and if chiropractic care can help.
Although the majority of patients that we see have back pain chiropractic has helped millions of people around the world with a whole variety of musculoskeletal problems.
If you are not sure if Chiropractic can help your complaint please call or email the clinic and one of the chiropractors will be more than happy to discuss this with you.
This will depend on a number of factors including how long you have had your problem for, your age, your physical condition, any previous injuries and/or accidents and whether you listen to the advice your chiropractor gives you and many more. The best advice for any patient is that the sooner you address your complaint the quicker it will be to respond to care.
Again this depends on a number of factors. These factors include how long you have had your problem, how severe it is, your lifestyle, as well as the findings from the tests/investigations conducted during your consultation. Your chiropractor will explain to you how many visits will be required in your report of findings and come up with the appropriate management plan to help you recover as soon as possible.
No we do not take X-rays at this clinic as we are proud of our diagnostic skills, and can refer you to your GP or Albyn private medical hospital only if we deem them neccessary. We deem the use of x-rays for every patient as unethical practice. The main reason some chiropractors take x-rays are for "your safety", to access the condition of the spine, to check for congenital anomalies and to access for any degeneration within the spine.
Yes, we are recognised by most major insurance companies; however please ask prior to care.
Although Chiropractors do not treat specific conditions, there is evidence that it may help relieve joint pains including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis as an adjunct to medical treatments and exercise; General aches and pains including those of joints, muscle spasms and cramps; General, acute and chronic backache, back pain; Uncomplicated mechanical neck pain, Headaches arising from the neck; Frozen shoulder, shoulder or elbow pain, or tennis elbow arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck. Chiropractic may also help in the prevention of migraine.
Your Chiropractor will examine your spine and neuro-muscular system. Gentle adjustments to areas where tension are present will restore joint mobility and help the body heal itself.
We often take part in research trials and we may from time to time ask you to fill in questionnaires about your problem and your treatment progress. We appreciate that you may not wish to take part and this is entirely voluntary.
If we feel your problem is not suitable for chiropractic treatment or we need further investigations, we will liaise with your GP and other health care providers, as long as you give us your permission to do so.
